Beautiful and talented baby boomer singer Linda Ronstadt was born July 15, 1946 in Tucson, Arizona to a parents with a mixed German, English, Dutch, and Mexican heritage, and diverse musical interests. Linda Ronstadt Reveals She Has Parkinsons Disease Can No Longer Sing
Spectacular songbird Linda Ronstadt disclosed Friday that she has Parkinson’s disease and the illness has already robbed her of her ability to sing.
The 67-year-old “Hurt So Bad” songstress, whose vocal range spanned the octaves from contralto to soprano, discussed her disease with AARP magazine in an interview. The 11-time Grammy Award winner’s memoir, “Simple Dreams,” is slated to be published next month.
“No one can sing with Parkinson’s disease,” Ronstadt said. “No matter how hard you try.”
Ronstadt, who churned out hits during the 1970s and ’80s, including “Poor Poor Pitiful Me,” “You’re No Good” and “Just One Look,” now uses poles to assist her when walking on uneven ground and travels with a wheelchair.
The singer said she was only diagnosed about eight months ago, but she has been experiencing symptoms like hand tremors and trouble controlling the muscles that allowed her to sing since roughly eight years ago.
She attributed the ailments to a tick bite until she was finally properly diagnosed by a neurologist.
The 11-time Grammy winner’s last album was released in 2006.

The Jerry Brown Years
Folk, rock and country music baby boomer darling Linda Ronstadt ended the 70s decade with an international tour with boyfriend Jerry Brown that included Australia and Japan.
Jerry Brown was now the Governor of California, a Democratic presidential candidate, and was Ronstadts acknowledged boyfriend in interviews they lived together in the Governors mansion. Linda and Jerry got a lot of attention from the press, making the cover of Newsweek and US Weekly magazines in 1979 their trip to Africa that year also got them on the cover of People magazine.
In her 2013 memoir Simple Dreams, a now senior citizen Linda Ronstadt said neither she nor Jerry Brown ever imagined sharing each others lives, but have always remained on excellent terms. Jerry Brown is once again the Governor of California, and shes friends with both Jerry and his wife .

Hot on the heels of all the hit singles and success from her Heart Like a Wheel album and singles successes in early 1975, Linda Ronstadts 6th album Prisoner in Disguise, was released in the fall of 1975, and quickly jumped to the Top 5 Billboard Album Chart.
The singles Heat Wave hit #5 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, matched by Love is a Rose hitting #5 on Billboards Country chart. Tracks of My Tears hit #4 on the Adult Contemporary chart. Many of her songs were crossover hits on the pop, rock, adult contemporary, and country music charts.

The length of time and fitful process required to release TRIO II the second album by the lovely triple-tiered harmony machine of Linda Ronstadt, Dolly Parton and Emmylou Harris should not cause one to think it is of inferior quality. Just because it emanated from sessions begun in 1994 , contained five songs Ronstadt peeled off the project to use for a solo record and failed to chart as high or sell as well as the trios spirited debut, there are treasures to be found in the albums grooves.
Of the three voices, Ronstadts is clearly the most emotive, the most often. The first verse of High Sierra finds her fully embodying the character in the song, with so much passion turned to pain. She can be subtle, as well hers is the lead voice on The Blue Train and the stillness she brings to it perfectly matches the introspective quiet of the song.
Parton shines on He Rode All the Way to Texas, a big ballad that finds her reaching for the heavens and taking the listen along for the wondrous ascent. She also provides the oddest moment on the album, leading a take on Neil Youngs hippie soliloquy After the Gold Rush. To hear these three distinguished women wrap their collective harmony around the Look at Mother Nature on the run refrain causes a bit of cognitive dissonance.

‘you Just Get Worse Until You Die’: Linda’s Last Song
Parkinson’s disease has silenced one of the most enduring voices of her generation.
Linda Ronstadt talked to Sunday Night about her battle with the disease that took her famed voice, saying it has taught her, “Radical acceptance”.
The ‘Blue Bayou’ singer formed part to the famed Trio with close friends Dolly Parton and Emmylou Harris, who have rallied around Linda as her health declines.
“I have to honestly say that there are some things in your life that you pick out and think that is one of the greatest things that I was ever a part of,” Dolly said of Trio.
“Linda Ronstadt, who’s unbelievably great, and Emmylou who’s spectacular and I’m just I just feel so proud to be part of that trio.”
They first sang as a group nearly 50 years ago but because of Lindas declining health, the trio admit they will never again be able to sing together again.
In their final project together, the recordings that captured their musical alchemy have now been remastered in studio, along with unreleased material from their original sessions.
“I mean Linda probably has the most stunningly beautiful voice of our generation,” Dolly said.
“When I first heard her when I was knocking around the clubs in New York, I didn’t meet her then. But I saw her, and I was incredibly jealous.”
Linda has spent most of her time at her home in San Fransisco since being diagnosed four years ago with Parkinsons disease and says everyday life has become a challenge.
Dolly was one of her biggest fans.

Its been ten years since Linda Ronstadt, once the most highly paid woman in rock and roll, sang her last concert. In 2013, the world found out why: Parkinsons disease had rendered her unable to sing, ending a musical career that had left an indelible mark on the classic-rock era and earned her ten Grammy Awards. Ronstadts earth-shaking voice and spunky stage presence jolted her to fame in the late sixties, and her renditions of Different Drum , Youre No Good , Blue Bayou, and Desperado helped define the California folk-rock sound. Along the way, two of her backup musicians left to form the Eagles.
But Ronstadt, now seventy-three, didnt rest on her greatest hits, experimenting instead with a dizzying range of genres. In the eighties, she starred in Gilbert and Sullivans The Pirates of Penzance on Broadway, recorded a standards album with the veteran arranger Nelson Riddle, and released Canciones de Mi Padre, a collection of traditional Mexican songs, which became the best-selling non-English-language album in American history. The record also returned Ronstadt to her roots. Her grandfather was a Mexican bandleader, and her father had serenaded her mother with Mexican folk songs in a beautiful baritone. She grew up in Tucson, Arizona, close to the bordera place that has since become a political flashpoint.

Returning To The Contemporary Music Scene
By the late 1980s, while enjoying the success of her big band jazz collaborations with Riddle and her surprise hit mariachi recordings, Ronstadt elected to return to recording mainstream pop music once again. In 1987, she made a return to the top of the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart with “Somewhere Out There“, which peaked at number 2 in March. Featured in the animated film An American Tail, the sentimental duet with James Ingram was nominated for several Grammy Awards, ultimately winning the Grammy Award for Song of the Year. The song also received a nomination for the Academy Award for Best Original Song and achieved high sales, earning a million-selling gold single in the U.S. รข one of the last 45s ever to do so. It was also accompanied by a popular music video. On the heels of this success, Steven Spielberg asked Ronstadt to record the theme song for the animated sequel titled An American Tail: Fievel Goes West, which was titled “Dreams to Dream“. Although “Dreams to Dream” failed to achieve the success of “Somewhere Out There”, the song did give Ronstadt an Adult Contemporary hit in 1991.
In December 1990, she participated in a concert held at the Tokyo Dome to commemorate John Lennon‘s 50th birthday, and to raise awareness of environmental issues. Other participants included Miles Davis, Lenny Kravitz, Hall & Oates, Natalie Cole, Yoko Ono, and Sean Lennon. An album resulted, titled Happy Birthday, John.
